Total Hip Replacement
Surgeons can remove bones and cartilage in the hip joint, and replace them with metal and plastic components, creating an artificial joint. The procedure is done to relieve hip pain, or to heal a hip fracture.
This measure assesses the following:
- A surgery center's experience performing the procedure against Leapfrog's facility volume standard of 50 procedures per year and
- Whether the surgery center's process for privileging its surgeons includes requiring the surgeon to meet Leapfrog's annual surgeon volume standard of 25 procedures per year
Reporting Period
- Surveys submitted prior to September 1: 01/01/2023 - 12/31/2023
- Surveys (re)submitted on or after September 1: 07/01/2023 - 06/30/2024

- Outpatients (Patients who are admitted and discharged on the same day)
- Adults
